Welcome to the Opera. In Dave Molloy's Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, you're invited into the spectacle of Moscow aristocracy in the early nineteenth century. Molloy's musical is a partial adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, en epic novel that spans 15 years (1805-1820) and contains over 500 characters.
The Pennsylvania State University was given the chance to put on this show which was a surprise mostly due to size. This show was very complex due to it being all over the place all of the time which meant lights had to be put everywhere and hit everyone all of the time.
I loved the process working on this show despite its challenges. The final product turned out beautiful and it was a huge learning experience and I grew more than I would've ever thought.
